Quarter Marathon

I ran a Quarter Marathon today, sounds pretty impressive huh?
It is basically a 10K or 6.5 miles.
My time:  1:01:49
Pace average:  9:27
I was really trying for under one hour, but I really got tired between miles five and six
and then the race ended on a hill!

Here I am with my current running partner, Theresa.
We started running together in December.
She has been a lifesaver and got me through
the cold, snowy winter months of running outside.
She is FAST and has really
helped me improve my time.
She ran the 1/2 marathon today.

Here I am before the race.
It was a beautiful morning, brisk but I didn't need
to wear a jacket.
Ben had to work today so I came by myself.
I haven't ever done a race without my
cheering squad, I missed them.

Shamrock Run

I ran in a 4 mile Shamrock Run (same one as last year).  Ben was there but he was taking the pictures :).  I enjoyed the race and beat last year's time by two minutes.

Geist Half Marathon

Karen and I ran in the Geist Half Marathon on May 16th. It was so nice to have a friend to run it with. We had a fun time and I think the dads and kids did too. The weather was fairly warm, a little muggy with only a few showers along the way. Thanks for running with me Karen!

We enjoyed a visit from Steven and Karen and their family this weekend. Karen and I ran in a 4 mile St. Patrick's Day race. Ben and Steven hung out with the kids. Thanks for coming!

Drumstick Dash

One of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is to run in a local "race" on Thanksgiving day. This year we joined over 5000 others in the Drumstick Dash! I ran 4.5 miles and the kids participated in a 50 yard dash where they got to chase "Jerry Gobbler" the turkey. Ben kept the troops under control while I ran! We all had a great time. In the afternoon we joined two other families for a Thanksgiving feast. Happy Thanksgiving!

Half Marathon

Starting Line

Finish Line

Grace and me before the race.

My supporters!

I made it!
2 hours and 12 minutes

Our future marathoners!
Grace and Camille ran the 1 mile Kid's Run.

Here is Grace coming through at the finish line.
They let the kids pass through the same finish line as the half and full marathoners!

What a great day we had today. It started early as we had to drive 40 minutes to the race location. The kids were excited to eat their donuts we had bought last night! Nothing like sugar to get our four out of bed :). My half marathon started at 8:30 a.m. The weather was just perfect and the fall colors beautiful. Some of the course takes place at Fort Harrison State Park. I wanted to enjoy this race and set a goal to run a 10 minute mile. I averaged a 10 minute five second mile so I almost met my goal. The girls enjoyed running their 1 mile fun run and I think the running bug has hit them too!

5K Race

This morning I ran in our little towns first annual 5K. There were 39 people who were in the race. Probably 10 out of the 39 were runners. Ben and the kids came to cheer me on. It was a beautiful fall morning. I'm training for a half marathon in two weeks so I thought this would be a good opportunity to just give my all and see what I could do! I had five male runners in front of me and I just kept trying to catch up with them (I never did). I was totally surprised to run it in 24 minutes and 47 seconds. This is the fastest I've ever done a 5K in. It gave me a good boost. We forgot the camera so I don't have any pictures to share.
