Storms

Our van was parked right between where Grace and Gabe are standing.
Ben and Grace measured the tree - it was a 90 foot Black Cherry Tree.
It is always sad to see a tree as big as this fall down.

We've had a lot of rain this past week, probably about 10 inches. On Friday night another storm came our way. We were all sitting at our kitchen table eating an ice cream cone. All of a sudden it got really dark and the wind was blowing. It looked like an angry storm and it concerned us enough that we all took shelter in our basement. No sooner did we make it down the stairs then our electricity went out. The winds got up to 80 mph, though they didn't last long and were followed by plenty of thunder, lightning and rain. We came back upstairs after a few minutes to assess any damage. We were sad to see we had lost two trees; one of them falling into our yard. We were grateful it didn't hit our van which at the time of the storm was not in our garage but just a few feet from the fallen tree! (We will now be sure to put our vehicles in our garage prior to a storm!)

So glad you guys have a basement and were kept safe. Wicked storms are really scary. I'm also glad it didn't crush your van. How did your garden fare with so much rain and wind?
